The first UFC light heavyweight title fight in the post-Jon-Jones era has already been scheduled.
MMA Fighting has confirmed that Dominick Reyes vs. Jan Blachowicz is slated as the co-main event for UFC 253, which will be headlined by a middleweight championship bought between current champ Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa.
The fight between Reyes and Blachowicz will be for the light heavyweight title, which currently sits vacant. Jon Jones was the former champion, winning the title a total of eight times, but Jones has since decided to move up to the heavyweight division and announced earlier this week that he would be vacating the light heavyweight title.
Reyes is currently 12-1, with his only loss taking place in his most recent fight, which was against Jones himself back in February. Blachowitz also most recently fought in February and is currently sitting on a three-fight win streak, winning two of those bouts by knockout.
UFC 253 will take place in Las Vegas on September 26.
