Polaris 5 will take place at the O2 Indigo theater this year, on August 19 2017. In the main event, Dillon Danis will attempt to reverse his sole black belt submission defeat by taking on Garry Tonon. This has all the ingredients of an intense match up, because the two men have a history of bad blood and social media spats. Tonon, who is riding a wave of popularity and coming off a series of victories, submitted Danis — who is regarded as somewhat of a villan — via heel hook at the ADCC Championships in 2015. Many fans are intrigued to see whether Danis can back up his trash talk, or whether he will suffer the same fate again.

Another notable undercard bout is US jiu jitsu specialist Jake Shields versus Dan Strauss, who is a well known British jiu jitsu fighter. Recently, Strauss competed at the Tanko Submission Championships, where he defeated Lucio Sergio Dos Santos. Here, he will enjoy home comforts against his experienced American foe. This should be an unmissable, high octane contest featuring two exciting warriors putting it all on the line.
Finally, legendary UFC competitor Brad Pickett is set to square off against Phil Harris, who is a former UFC fighter and veteran of Polaris. In the past, both men have been regarded as combat sport trailblazers at one time or another, and this match looks unlikely to go the distance.
Every bout at this event is a fifteen minute, no gi contest that will be subject to Polaris 5 rules. These rules are designed to increase the amount of action that occurs during the bouts. Tickets can be purchased from 11am on May 19, although O2 Priority customers can purchase tickets two days in advance, from 11am on May 17.
