Dillon Danis Fined $7,500 & Suspended 7 Months For Role In UFC 229’s Infamous “Khabib Brawl”

It’s been four months since the image of Khabib Nurmagomedov leaping at Dillon Danis was forever ingrained into our minds, and now, the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) has finally handed out their last sanction for the brawl that ensued.

Dillon Danis was fined $7,500 and will serve a retroactively enforced seven-month suspension for his involvement in the brawl, which MMA Fighting said the NAC described as an “unsportsmanlike conduct charge, with commission representatives noting that Danis had to be physically restrained by security personnel on multiple occasions and used obscene gestures against Nurmagomedov and his team.”

Because the suspension is retroactive, Danis doesn’t have to wait too much longer to get back to his newfound MMA career — he is currently 1-0 in Bellator and will be able to resume competition on May 6 of this year.

Other participants in the incident also received suspensions, with Conor McGregor earning six months, Nurmagomedov receiving nine months, and a few of Nurmagomedov’s teammates receiving a year.
