You know it’s the weekend when your phone is pushing notifications that Bloody Elbow has reported a Dillon Danis callout of Steven Seagal.
To which Bellator replied:
The self-proclaimed “icon” of jiu-jitsu and fight teaming reportedly went on the twit offensive in response to Seagal’s appearance on Submission Radio, where he defended Khabib Nurmagomedov’s now infamous post-fight flying kick of Danis at UFC 229 by saying:
“Do I condemn [Khabib] for what he did after the fight? No. Even as a diplomat I will say no,” the 66-year-old actual Russian diplomat and Hollywood fixture explained. “If you badmouth someone’s family, their wife, their children, their mother, their father, their country, their religion, all bets are off, and I would have done the same thing.”
There’s a zero percent chance Bellator would actually follow through on this BJJ meets Aikido brawl, as the fight is a better fit for Golden Boy.
Are tweets like these good for the overall mental wellness of Western civilization? Nope. Will the aliens who find the remains of humanity be impressed by our digital archives of callouts? Absolutely not. But does arguing semantics on who wins in a Danis v. Seagal cage match make water breaks at open mat better? Probably. Only one way to find out, really. Happy Saturday.
