The dust has hardly settled following TUF 14 champ Diego “Ceará” Brandão’s win over Joey Gambino at UFC Rio and he’s already got a next target in his sights.
After his decision win over Gambino in Brazil, Brandão put in a request with the UFC higher-ups for a fight with his countryman Rony “Jason”.
“What I want is to fight Rony, but the folks at the UFC said it’s not time yet. I’m a UFC employee and I’ll fight whoever they give me. What’s important is that they’re aware that I’m ready to fight,” Diego told the reporter Arthur Castro in Manaus.
What’s for certain, though, is that Brandão is quite keen to face off with “Jason”, the winner of the TUF reality show’s first season in Brazil, as he made clear to the Sexto Round website.
On a recent visit to see family and friends in Manaus Diego secured sponsorship with the Amazonas State government. The fighter now joins the likes of José Aldo, Adriano Martins and Ronys Torres as official state-sponsored fighters.
Diego Brandão or Rony Jason—how interesting is that match-up to you, gentle reader?
