“The Black Beast” Derrick Lewis pushed his MMA record up to 21-16 with his win over Roy “Big Country” Nelson, who dropped to 21-13.
Lewis came in strong, throwing ones, twos, uppercuts, and roundhouse kicks at Nelson. As the round drew to a close, it seemed like a knockout could have been imminent.
Nelson was in control throughout round 2, though, utilizing his body locks and takedowns to weather Lewis’ storms and pummel him from side control and inside half guard.
Lewis came back stronger in the third round, ending the fight with the huge punches and kicks that he used in the first round.
By the time the last bell rang, he had impressed enough of the judges to earn himself the win.
