Demian Maia explains why he gets hit so seldom in the UFC: “It’s not me — it’s BJJ”

Renowned as the most efficient grappler in the UFC, Demian Maia has plenty of reasons to celebrate his ongoing great run.

With six consecutive wins, the latest against Carlos Condit via early RNC (watch again here) the BJJ teacher has in his résumé an interesting number: in his last four bouts, he got dealt only 13 significant strikes. Demian explained that it wasn’t about his skill, but that BJJ had taught him to keep situations under control.
