Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson will have his next ONE Championship fight against ONE flyweight muay Thai champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon. But this won’t be an MMA fight or a muay Thai fight — instead, it’ll be both.
First announced by ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong, the fight between Johnson and Jitmuangnon is set to take place over four rounds, each lasting three minutes. The first round will take place under muay Thai rules, the second under MMA rules, the third under muay Thai rules, and the fourth under MMA rules.
This will be Jitmuangnon’s first time fighting under MMA rules. His last appearance for ONE saw him claim victory over Danial Williams in April.
Johnson, for his part, suffered his first loss since 2018 in April when he was knocked out in his fourth fight for ONE by Adriano Moraes. Prior to that, he was on a three-fight winning streak that spanned the duration of his time with the promotion.
This isn’t the only big fight that will take place on the ONE X card — a featherweight title fight between jiu-jitsu star Garry Tonon and Thahn Le is also scheduled to take place at the event.
ONE X will take place on Sunday, December 5.
