The inaugural event of Fury Pro Grappling featured a main event between Silver Fox black belt Danielle Kelly and three-time No-Gi Pans champion Sofia Amarante.
Kelly started the match by immediately pulling guard, working in a butterfly hook and trying to elevate Amarante. Kelly then came on top, and Amarante capitalized on the opportunity by going for an outside heel hook. Kelly escaped and sat down to enter the leg entanglement herself, then came up on top again and worked to pass while Amarante maintained a reverse DLR guard. Amarante then transitioned to x-guard and rolled through for a leg lock attempt, which Kelly quickly escaped from.
Kelly resumed trying to pass while Amarante played a tight guard game. Just over four minutes to go, and Kelly went for a toehold that Amarante successfully defended against. Kelly cartwheeled over her opponent’s legs and locked in a kimura grip, transitioning to a leg attack once again when Amarante defended. Kelly resumed trying to pass guard. She stacked Amarante, who inverted and tried going for another leg attack. Kelly then put on a head-arm choke and tried to sprawl her way out of Amarante’s hold on her leg, opening up an opportunity to take the back. Though she only had one hook on, Kelly was able to sink in the rear naked choke, and Amarante was forced to tap with a minute and three seconds left to go.
Danielle Kelly was declared the winner by submission.
