If a world-halting virus fails to stop this fight, I fully believe we can make it through anything…
Dana White announced earlier today that UFC 249 would still be held and headlined by Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. In an interview with YahooSports’ Kevin Iole, White said that the fight was locked in and that a venue had already been decided.
“I know it, but I’m not ready to tell you,” White said on the location.
Being booked and rescheduled multiple times, this pairing has become something of a White whale for MMA fans. Does Ferguson unleash secret Wing Chun iron fist maneuvers, or does Khabib “smesh” like he always does? One massive, tragic pandemic later and combat sports athletes and fans are all waiting to see how the UFC navigates these unknown waters.
In keeping with the protocols of their lease event, UFC 249 will likely be in a controlled environment without attendees.
More updates to follow.
