Relatively new black belt competitor Victor Hugo Marques was defeated by long BJJ veteran Cyborg Abreu today, but he wont have to wait long for a rematch. Cyborg won the pair’s ultra heavy weight division at IBJJF’s Worlds No-Gi by a single advantage point…and they will meet again shortly in open weight.
Hugo was a brown belt for last year’s round of competition, taking gold. He also won Worlds, the European Open, Pans, and the Brazilian Nationals at brown. Since being awarded his black belt, he has won the Las Vegas Open, ACBJJ World, and UAEJJF Grand Slam.
Cyborg has previously won Worlds No-Gi in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2017.
