Cris Cyborg Has Officially Signed With Bellator

Former UFC featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is now officially a Bellator fighter.

Strikeforce founder and current Bellator president Scott Coker shared the news on Twitter, calling Cyborg’s “the biggest contract in women’s MMA history.”

The move to Bellator follows Cyborg’s departure from the UFC after her contract ended with the promotion. Cyborg and UFC president Dana White often had a tense, challenged relationship, and despite the fighter’s success under the UFC, White stated that he had no intention of resigning her after her contract had finished.

The “when” and “who” of Cyborg’s Bellator debut hasn’t been revealed yet, but given Coker’s excitement over signing Cyborg and her massive success in the sport thus far, fans shouldn’t be surprised if she gets an immediate shot against current 145-lb champion Julia Budd.
