Just over a week after getting her first submission win in her professional MMA career, Cris “Cyborg” Justino has earned her BJJ black belt.
The Bellator featherweight champion and UFC veteran was promoted by Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles after eight years as a brown belt.
“8 years as a brown belt in BJJ and today I received the honor and privilege to call myself a @cobrinhacharles Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. thank you to all the coaches who’ve helped me evolve from an athlete into a martial artist.
BLACK BELT IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF A NEW JOURNEY”
Cobrinha also shared a photo from the special promotion and expressed his pride in his student.
Though Cyborg has mainly focused on her MMA career over the years, she also has a few significant accomplishments in jiu-jitsu — she took home gold in the heavyweight division at the IBJJF World Championship in both 2011 and 2012 as a purple belt.
