Cris Cyborg earned her 11th 1st-round KO and 20th career KO in Friday night’s title defense against Sinead Kavanagh.
She landed a mean right hook just 1:30 into the first round, then followed up with vicious hammer fists until the referee stopped the fight. She is now 4-0 inside the Bellator octagon and showing no signs of giving up her belt.
2-time PFL Champion and 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Kayla Harrison, was in attendance for the evening. Big John McCarthy asked Cyborg if a fight against Harrison is in her sights and Cyborg obliged,
“Kayla, thank you for coming to the fights… I really appreciate you here. If you want to fight me one day, it’s going to be a great fight, but Ali Abdelaziz has to talk to all the promotions to make this happen.”
The event ended with just 1 submission on the night and 4 KOs.
The sole submission came from heavyweight Steve Mowry in the very first round against Rakim Cleveland. Mowry, a Sanford MMA teammate, remains undefeated and improves to 11-0.
That makes it 20 KO's for the champ. #Bellator271
