Submission Underground 9 has announced a new matchup between UFC star Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Aussie mat marauder Craig Jones. The latest installment of the popular sub-only showdown is set for July 7th in Portland, Oregon, and will be streamed via FightPass.
Also on the card is Fabiano Scherner, in what the promotors bill as his toughest match yet in old rival Gabriel Gonzaga, as well as black belts Micah Brakefield and King Kevin Casey. “Tag team” and undercard matches are TBA.
Craig Jones is–seriously, do we still have to fill in his bio at this point? IBJJF, Polaris, AFBJJ, he’s won them all and hasn’t slowed down since Lachlan Giles promoted him to black belt.
Johnson, by comparison, is more known as an MMA smasher than an acai-loving mat rat. Last seen squaring off against Daniel Cormier in 2017, his record with the UFC stands at 22-6.
