Craig Jones Criticizes FloGrappling For Overreliance On Gordon Ryan: “Without Him, There’s No Profitable Event”
During a recent “El Segundo” podcast episode , Craig Jones shared his criticism about FloGrappling’s business model – which he believes is overly dependent on Gordon Ryan.
Here’s what he had to say about the lack of financial “sense” behind the decision:
They basically cannot make money off a professional grappling event unless Gordon’s involved.
Without him, there’s no profitable event.
Jones went on to describe how FloGrappling seemingly bent over backward to accommodate Ryan.
According to him, Ryan was offered a lucrative contract with the freedom to dictate his own terms:
So now he’s basically is going to be able to leverage these two against each other.
But I would imagine things aren’t going to be good for FloGrappling if they can’t get him under contract again.
Yeah, because if he goes to UFC, who else is there?
Because they’re going to say: “Craig, we’re going to offer you a lot of money to come back to FloGrappling…”
And I’m going to be, like: “$1 million for emotional damage.”
As Ryan’s exclusive contract with FloGrappling nears its end, Jones believes that the streaming platform could face significant financial challenges:
You have to imagine UFC are going to offer him something great, you know, because they want him.
