Craig Jones is a different grappler than he was two years ago when he shocked the world by choking out Leandro Lo at ADCC 2017. Now, he’s back in action and already putting on a promising performance with a first-round win. Of course, if he wants that gold, he’ll have to get through many more impressive competitors to get there, including CJJ champion Jon Blank, who leg-locked accomplished Russian grappler Rustam Chsiev to advance to the quarter-finals.
The original brackets for the event can be found here. Below are the results for the first round of the 88kg division and the match-ups for the quarter-finals:
Jones defeats Dyson via submission; Fowler defeats Araujo via referee decision.
Quarter-Finals: Jones vs. Fowler
