For the fourth year in a row, the FJJD-Rio is preparing the Rio Mineirinho Jiu-Jitsu Circuit. Over the last three years, the entity has taken athletes to the IBJJF European Open and World Championship, among them up-and-coming talent like José Carlos “Polenguinho” Dias, a three-time champion of the circuit who took runner-up at this season’s European Open.

And to start off 2011 on the right foot, the first stage, on April 3, will be held in Rio de Janeiro’s Tijuca Tennis Club. Sign-ups are already open and will be divided into three bunches. Those who sign up right away get the best prices. It’s worth noting that, to compete for the tickets to the European Open and the Worlds, one has to participate in all stages of the competition.

“Once again, this year, we have the backing of the soft drink Mineirinho, which allows us to put on even better events, and there’s also sponsorship coming in from Nishi gis and backing from Meletti Viagens e Turismo. We expect a record crowd at the Tijuca Tennis Club, during a season where we, again, expect to bring the athletes the best,” explains Rogério Gavazza.

Thus the entity gets ready for another big event, the Rio International Jiu-Jitsu Qualifier, on November 19, at the Tijuca Tennis Club, a competition that will reward the winners of several divisions with packages to the main international events, like the Worlds, European Open and World Pro.
