If you’ve been training jiu-jitsu long enough, you’ve probably encountered a situation that made you go, “Huh. This martial art really does bring people from all walks of life together.”
Comedian Ronny Chieng — who you may be familiar with if you’re a stand-up comedy follower, have seen Crazy Rich Asians or The Daily Show, or simply have a Netflix account — knows quite well that jiu-jitsu can be a catalyst that unites cultures from all over the world. He himself is a BJJ blue belt, and a few days ago, he shared a post that acknowledged jiu-jitsu’s unique way of bringing people together.
“In Japan a Chinese Malaysian learning from a Ghanaian a Brazilian martial art that came from Japan something something something multiculturalism remixing ideas yada yada yada etc watch my comedy special out now on @Netflix @haisamcdbjj@carpediembjj_official@albinoandpreto“
If you’re a fan of Chieng’s work or want to support a fellow jiu-jitsu practitioner, make sure you check out his comedy special Asian Comedian Destroys America! on Netflix.
