MMA fans all over the world have heard former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum’s side of the story concerning a violent confrontation he had with UFC Welterweight Colby Covington shortly before UFC Fight Night 121 in Sydney, Australia.
Minutes, ago, though, Covington had the chance to share his side of the story.
Colby was a guest on The MMA Hour and was asked to tell viewers what happened to him when he ran into Fabricio Werdum.
According to Colby, he was just looking at Twitter when Fabricio hit him out of nowhere. The former champ then began yelling homophobic slurs at him and threatening to kill him. Colby walked away, but Werdum and his coach followed him. Security had to get involved.
Convington denied claims that he said “filthy animals” to the former champ.
Colby also had words for anyone ridiculing him for getting the police involved:
“You’re condoning violence because of free speech,” he told The MMA Hour’s host, Ariel Helwani. “You know what that’s called, Ariel? That’s called fascism. You know how else believed in fascism? Adolf Hitler!”

Colby also said that he is a fighter and not a “street thug” which is why he refused to fight in the streets.
The UFC Welterweight also took time to address his use of homophobic slurs, saying that he meant “no disrespect” to the LBGT community and had plenty of gay friends.
