CUT!
Earlier today, UFC President Dana White announced that former UFC bantamweight champion Cody “No Love” Garbrandt will face flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255. According to White’s statement to ESPN’s Bret Okomoto, the November 21 card will see both flyweight titles defended as women’s champion Valentina Schevchenko faces Jennifer Maia for the co-main event.
Coming off of his initial championship win against Joseph Benevitez, Figueiredo will be making his first title defense against a fighter from an entirely different weight class. Former champion Henry “Triple C” Cejudo made similar defenses against former bantamweight champions TJ Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz to great success. And while initially falling into a skid after his loss to Dillashaw in 2017, Garbrandt recently bounced back with an impressive KO against Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250.
The Jiu-Jitsu Times will follow this story as it develops.
