Rubens Cobrinha Charles wins the 2017 Brazilian Nationals Black Belt Feather Weight! over the loudspeakers in Portuguese at the José Correa stadium in Sao Paulo. Cobrinha is a four-time IBJJF world champion, and the Brazilian Nationals title was the only major title that he never held before.
What’s even more incredible about Cobrinha’s victory is the fact that there were 32 other competitors in the featherweight category. He had to overcome many of the top athletes in his class to grab this medal, which makes the championship that much more poignant for a man who has already achieved more at age 38 than most martial artists will achieve in their whole lives.
Prof. Cobrinha Charles answers the question: what motivates you to compete so much? "I do what I love, and I feel like a boy still. I'm 38 year old and I will compete while I fell good! I don't have nothing else to prove to no one. I just want to prove to myself it's possible and I'm doing it. Thank you!

Cobrinha answered questions about motivation after his final match, and he told fans that he feels perpetually young because he’s doing what he loves. He then said that he wants to prove that everything is possible no matter how high he sets the bar.
