Coach explains injury pulling José Aldo from UFC 125

“Junior has had a spinal column problem for some time now. He’s been feeling it while training for his latest fights, but now, early on in his preparations, he felt really sharp pains,” André “Dedé” Pederneiras tells GRACIEMAG.com.

Aldo has a problem common to fighters, something that, if not taken care of, could develop into a herniated disc.

“We went to the doctor and he took a magnetic resonance. The doctor diagnosed there being a degeneration, what they call dehydration between the vertebrae. The nerve is pinched and his arm goes to sleep, loses strength,” he explains.

“The doctor told him to take rest, otherwise the trauma will be aggravated. He should spend one month doing physiotherapy and then he can return to training,” says Dedé in closing.
