Clark Gracie’s lesson from New York Open

Clark Gracie may not have made it to the top of the podium at the New York Open last Saturday, but he did demonstrate a quality common to Jiu-Jitsu players: he never gave up. And there’s another lesson that could also apply in this case: “Try to finish what you started.”

As we’re taught in Jiu-Jitsu on a daily basis, a black belt is a white belt who never gave up. And that’s what the member of the family with the most gentle-art tradition did in sinking an omoplata on Ken Primola and not abandoning the hold until he got what he wanted, despite the hardships. Take a look at the match and comment below.

Have you been finishing what you start, or could Jiu-Jitsu be missing in the way you face life?
