Awesome news for fans of Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion is coming out of retirement.
“I will fight again,” Liddell told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour today. “I miss it [mixed martial arts]. I never stopped missing it.”
And whom is the Iceman planning on fighting next? None other than another former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Mr. Tito Ortiz.”
“In my mind, I would like two good warm-up fights, and I’d like a shot at Jon Jones. I am serious; I’d like a shot at hime. We will see. Just, match styles.”
Of course, even if Tito isn’t willing to throw down, Chuck is still willing fight. He told Helwani that his return “does not hinge on Tito’s participation.”
In fact, he has yet another former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion on his mind, a man who, before his repeated criminal and drug offenses, was arguably one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, Jon “Bones” Jones.
“In my mind, I would like two good warm-up fights, and I’d like a shot at Jon Jones,” Liddell said. “I am serious; I’d like a shot at hime. We will see. Just, match styles.”
