Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman will be facing Jack Hermansson in the main event of the upcoming UFC Oklahoma, according to an announcement from the UFC.
The fight will be a return to the middleweight division for Weidman, who briefly moved to light heavyweight for one fight, which resulted in a first-round KO loss against Dominick Reyes. The fighter is coming off a two-fight losing streak, with his last win being against Kevin Gastelum in 2017. However, having held the middleweight title for an impressive two-and-a-half years prior to losing it to Luke Rockhold, he’s certainly earned his status as a legend in the sport and the opportunity to attempt to build up his standing in the division once again.
Hermansson is also coming off a loss — a KO from Jared Cannonier in September of last year — but prior to that, he was on a four-fight winning streak. Hermansson has established himself as a heavy hitter, with 11 of his 20 victories coming via KO. His clash with Weidman is sure to bring the fireworks as the final bout of the evening in Oklahoma.
UFC Oklahoma will take place on May 2 of this year in Oklahoma City, OK.
