Willamy Chiquerim’s UFC debut was set for August 1 against Thiago Tavares on the UFC on Versus 2 card. The Brazilian from the northeastern state of Ceará had been training hard for the bout, which will now have to be scheduled for another date, as the striking specialist injured his knee and was forced to withdraw.
Chiquerim was training this Tuesday morning at Upper gym in Rio de Janeiro. While grappling, he mounted his training partner, who bridged and Willamy’s foot got stick, bringing about the injury.
The UFC has been notified and the match has already been cancelled. Another date is to be scheduled for the all-Brazilian bout.
