The action Saturday night in Chicago wasn’t limited to the octagon. UFC on Fox 2 panned out with the next challengers to the middle- and medium heavyweight titles. Rashad Evans has his time and place to vie for Jon Jones’s under-205 lb belt: April 21 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Now Chael should finally get his rematch against Anderson Silva, as he has been pleading for at every opportunity ever since losing his bid for the middleweight belt. Being the clever strategist he is, at the post-event press conference Sonnen avoided causing any controversy regarding Brazil, when asked if he feared fighting in the South American nation. However, he didn’t let up when it came to his opponent’s future.
“I’m glad to take the question, because I’m impressed that you are concerned with my well-being. I may be wrong, but did any of you read today’s newspaper? From what I gather, Chicago is no paradise of tranquility and safety like some of you in attendance may think. Regardless, if they want to send someone after me, they can send whoever they want,” he remarked, before turning his tongue to Anderson:
“I’ll do my part, but I don’t think he’ll show. He refused the fight four times and then mysteriously seems to accept now. I’d rather talk about real men, like Mister Michael Bisping, who showed honor in getting in the octagon with me. Let the cowards hide in Brazil,” he said in finishing.
