Chad Mendes Becomes The Latest Drugs Cheat To Be Exposed

The UFC penned an agreement with USADA (the American Anti Doping Agency) to rid the sport of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs). Combatants who are registered as active UFC athletes have to undergo random drug testing. Chad Mendes, who previously challenged for the featherweight title, recently found out that he had failed a drugs test – and has been suspended as a result.

On Wednesday, USADA announced that Mendes will be suspended for twenty-four months, so his date of return will be June 18, 2018. Hexapeptide (commonly referred to as GHRP-6) was the failing agent that caused Mendes’ test to register as positive. The last time Mendes fought in the octagon was in 2015, when he was defeated by Frankie Edgar. Unfortunately, reports of PED use among combat athletes seem to be more frequent as time passes.
