July 9 marks the beginning of a new stage for MMA in Brazil: the launch of Brazilian Fighting Championship (BRFC – www.brfc.tv.br), a professional fight circuit. BRFC is the brain child of BF Shows and Esporte na Veira Marketing Esportivo, a sports marketing company. The technical director of the circuit will be Carlão Barreto, a former professional fighter and event promoter with heaps of experience.
The city chosen to host the maiden endeavor is São José do Rio Preto, one of the most important in the city of São Paulo. The first BRFC show is receiving backing from the municipal government by way of the Sports and Leisure Department, which will offer tickets for one kilogram of non-perishable foods each. All the proceeds will be donated to the city’s social benefit programs.
