Twelve-time World Champion Caio Terra is the latest major BJJ athlete to temporarily shut his academy’s doors as the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread. He’s taking the same step that many coaches and jiu-jitsu gym owners are taking — making instructional material available online for free for the duration of his gym’s closure — but going above and beyond by making the material free for everyone.
Terra made the announcement today on social media, revealing that BJJ students everywhere would have access to the content on CaioTerra.com (which is normally $25 a month for a “bronze tier” membership) for at least the next two weeks, depending on how long the coronavirus affects the jiu-jitsu community.
“Following the guidelines set by the CDC and Santa Clara county, we will be closing the week of the 15th until further notice. If you do not receive an email by Monday please email nick@bjjsanjose.com as this means we do not have a current email address for you.
I would like to personally thank each and everyone of you for your support over the years and your continued support in this troubling time. I thought about making my online site (caioterra.com) free to all the members of our gym, but this is a bigger issue than one gym, one town, one nation. With that in mind I’ve decided to offer free online training for the next two weeks.
Thank you!”
Terra joins multiple other high-profile instructors, including Bernardo Faria and John Danaher, in offering premium content at a reduced or no-cost price option.
