The third time’s a charm, right?
Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida has booked his ONE Championship debut (again), and if all goes well, we’ll be seeing him in his first MMA fight this September against Thomas Narmo.
MMA Fighting has reported that the record-setting BJJ legend will be making his debut on September 24 after multiple previous fight debuts fell through. He was first scheduled to fight against wrestler Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane in February, and after that fight was cancelled, he was booked to make his debut against Ji Won Kang in April. However, that fight, too, was cancelled after Buchecha’s opponent pulled out due to injury and was not rescheduled.
Narmo hasn’t lost a fight in his professional career, finishing his first four pro fights. He made his ONE Championship debut in August, but the bout was ruled a no-contest after an accidental groin kick that left him unable to continue.
A main event for the card has yet to be announced.
Buchecha vs. Narmo will take place Friday, September 24.
