The bullying epidemic continues to ravage our nation’s youth. A 7th grader known as Charlee experienced a brutal attack recently from a girl who had been targeting her for some time. The photos circulating around the internet are quite disturbing and it highlights the very real and dire circumstance that untrained and unaware children face in the midst of attending school without parental supervision.
One voice is stepping up to see if he could be of service. Rener Gracie comes to the rescue, again.
For a lot of people, jiu-jitsu is a fun hobby, sport, or business that enhances their life on a multitude of level. For Rener and the people he’s helped, it’s often the line between life and death. Whether it’s increasing training and protection for our nation’s law enforcement, empowering women around the world to take proactive steps towards preventing sexual assault, or teaching children the necessary tools to mitigate bullying, Rener and the Gracie University see it as their mission to use jiu-jitsu as a vehicle to improve society one person at a time.
Instances of bullying without intervention can be catastrophic. Children lash out to their families, become socially withdrawn, and in some instances have even taken their own life.
As a seventh-grader back in the day, I personally recall convincing my parents on two occasions to allow me to stay home because I was “sick” rather than tell them the truth of how I didn’t want to face certain bullies that were making my life miserable.
We can expect that if the Gracie University gets in touch with Charlee, they can have a lasting impact like they did for similarly bullied kids; Austin, Luis, and Naomi.
Anyone with contact information for Charlee’s family is encouraged to contact Rener via his social media channels.
