Alliance black belt Bruno Malfacine has announced his retirement from competitive jiu-jitsu.
The highly decorated athlete broke the news nonverbally by untying his belt and leaving it on the mat after winning his tenth world championship today, beating out Rodnei Junior for the roosterweight title — in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, this action signifies retirement from competition.
In addition to being a ten-time world champion, Malfacine has also won gold at Pans four times. He also won Euros in 2010 and the Rio Open in 2008 and 2009. He also won Worlds once each as a purple belt and brown belt.
