Brian Ortega Makes History, First Person To KO Frankie Edgar

If it wasn’t already obvious, Brian Ortega is a force to be reckoned with. In fact, he may be the force to be reckoned with in the UFC’s Featherweight division.

Ortega took on Frankie Edgar in the co-main event of UFC 222.

Edgar charged in with a one two but didn’t get anything. The height difference between the two was obvious. Frankie charged in again with some light jabs, but Ortega took a swing at him to keep him away. For a third time, Edgar charged in with some light jabs. He then landed a nice head kick on Brian. Ortega still looked calm and laid back, though. If Edgar was trying to get in his head, he was failing.

Edgar was, however, clearly winning the strikes landed war. He threw a quick three, four, or more strikes, then got out of the pocket immediately. Ortega was not simply standing there and taking it, though. He would throw a single hard punch, kick, or even jump kick in order to show Edgar that he wasn’t going to be an easy fight.

With only about thirty seconds to go, Brian Ortega stung Edgar with a left and wobbled him, From there he charged in with more punches and put Edgar’s lights out.

Brian Ortega not only remains undefeated, but he is the first person to finish Frankie Edgar in the cage.

Is there any argument for why Brian Ortega doesn’t deserve a title shot?

I can’t think of one.
