UFC Featherweight title contender Brian “T-City” Ortega has been absolutely demolishing the competition in the UFC Featherweight division, and he might be looking leave the same trail of carnage in the Lightweight division.
“I’ve definitely thought about it [moving up to the Lightweight division],” Ortega told the UFC Unfiltered podcast (quoted in MMA Mania). “My goal is, if I’m successful against [reigning Featherweight Champion] Max Holloway, I’m looking at some opportunities and things in the 155 division.”
But T-City isn’t interested in any fight. He wants a “war”:
We need the perfect match-up as far as a fight that I can really give the fans to see. Not just a regular match. I really want to give them a war and something crazy and something big, especially if I’m going to move up a weight class.
Brian Ortega is currently riding a 14-0 no loss streak in mixed martial arts, and he has finished all but four of his fights. A BJJ black belt under Rener Gracie at Gracie University, it should come as no surprise that seven of T-City’s ten submissions have come by way of submission.
Last Saturday night, in the co-main event of UFC 222, Brian Ortega made history as the first person to knock out former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar. Ortega is now next in line to face Max Holloway for the UFC Featherweight title.
