Brazilian Nationals: Luiza Monteiro wins female absolute with Nicolini

Sunday’s action at the 2011 Brazilian Nationals is at full steam, with some of the finals already determined – and all of them have world champions in them, for now.

At lightweight, Michael Langhi is one of the finalists, having beaten Eduardo Ramos (Atos) by 4 to 0. At the other end of the bracket, Leandro “Lo” Pereira overcame Augusto Tanquinho by 4 to 2. The two will face off in a rematch, since Leandro won their first meeting, at the Abu Dhabi World Pro.

At featherweight, Bruno Frazatto faces Leonardo “Cascão” (BTT).

At light featherweight, Ary Farias faces Gabriel Moraes.

At roosterweight, Felipe Costa faces Bruno Malfacine.

Yesterday the ladies took to the mat in the absolute division, with Luiza Monteiro and CheckMat teammate Michelle Nicolini closing out. Fernanda Mazzelli (Striker) and Barbara Gomes (Queiroz) took bronze.

The masters of the masters and seniors contest also put on a show, with gold medals going to Omar Salum, Admilson “Juquinha” and Eduardo Millioli, among others.
