Brazilian fight culture didn’t start with UFC Rio

The UFC boom in Brazil created the impression that the country’s fight culture only arose in 2011, as some media outlets, neocolumnists and new fight journalists on the scene seem to believe. Although their presence is very welcome, they’ve got it wrong. Fighting has been a part of Brazilian culture for a bit longer than that, as you can see in the following video recommended by our reader Gilmar Alves.
