A body that was found washed up on Venice Beach, California, around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday has been confirmed to be that of 39-year-old former WWE wrestler Shad Gaspard, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Gaspard disappeared on Sunday while swimming in the ocean with his 10-year-old son. According to the outlet, a wave crashed over the two about fifty yards from shore, and while Gaspard’s son was thankfully recovered by lifeguards after the wrestler reportedly told them to help his son first. A body matching his description was found by a jogger near a lifeguard tower and eventually identified by the coroner as belonging to Gaspard.
In addition to his pro wrestling career, where he was a part of the early-2000s team Cryme Time, Gaspard also dabbled in Hollywood, having a significant role in Get Hard with Will Ferrell.
