The start of this week was marked by a big loss for the BJJ community. At 62, black-belt Marcelo Bustamante passed away on Sunday from a heart attack.
A member of the select group of black-belts trained by Grandmaster Carlson Gracie, Marcelo was an older brother of Murilo Bustamente — a leader of BTT and former UFC champion.
As well as being a BJJ practitioner and a sports lover, Marcelo served society as a public defender, having acted as public defender general between 1999 and 2006.
