Former BKFC and MMA fighter Sheena Brandenburg has been sentenced to five to fifteen years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a fatal hit-and-run accident in August 2020.
Local news source Up North Live was the first to report on the sentencing.
The incident that led to the charges occurred in the early hours of August 1, 2020, when police say Brandenburg struck the back of a motorcycle with her car and fled the scene. The rider, 56-year-old Troy Lambert, was initially thought to have been involved in a single-vehicle crash. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Police later identified Brandenburg as the driver who had hit Lambert and learned that both she and the victim had been driving home from the same tavern. She was extradited from Missouri back to Michigan and was arraigned on March 8 on one count of reckless driving causing death and one count of failure to stop at scene accident resulting in serious impairment or death.
Brandenburg did not achieve any victories in her professional or amateur MMA career.
