The sensei on the right said that he knew that brown belt when he was a blue belt long time ago. He also stated that he was a “hard”/good blue belt . He had been practicing BJJ in different gyms and came to his dojo as a brown belt. They said that a lot of the gyms are charging to graduate the students, which they don’t agree. They spoke to the student and he agreed that his BJJ is not in a brown belt level and agreed to be demoted. Both sensei gave him a purple belt and stated that he is a “hard”/good purple belt or Duro as they called. At the end they said: ” Please don’t skip any belts folks. When you skip a belt is a shame to our sport!” That’s basically what was said.
Do you agree with the coach or should the student have kept his brown belt?
