Beloved grappler BJ Penn may be headed back to the Octogon. The former double-belt champion and fellow longtime MMA veteran Clay Guida are expected to face off at UFC 237 on May 11, reports MMA Fighting.
Penn, now 40, is coming off a high profile loss against Ryan Hall and has not had a solid knockout victory since 2010 against Matt Hughes. Guida, 37, brings the momentum of his winning streak against Charles Oliveira (back in 2018), Joe Lauzon, and Erik Koch. Penn has history in the city however; his 2000 BJJ Worlds’ victory made him the first non-Brazilian to take the gold.
UFC 237 will also showcase Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade, and Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski.
