Ben Askren may be an Olympic-level wrestler and ADCC-level grappler, but he admits he could have (and should have) focused more on his jiu-jitsu during his time as a fighter.
Askren, who announced his retirement from MMA in November of last year, followed up an AMA (“ask me anything”) session on Instagram with a video to answer what he would’ve done differently in his MMA career. The big answer? Focusing more on his jiu-jitsu.
The self-proclaimed black belt said that he wishes he would’ve spent more time training with more high-level practitioners (specifically the Danaher Death Squad) and generally getting better at “choking people.”
