They waited 21 years for the third leg of one of the longest running MMA rivalries, between Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock.
Finally, when it happened as the main event of Bellator 149, tonight in Houston, TX, Gracie ended it fast with a knee to Shamrock’s head followed by a takedown and a series of hammer fists on the ground.
The referee stopped the fight with 2:22 on the first round.
After it was over, Shamrock complained of a low knee to his groin by Royce and the replay showed there was a blow that seemed to hit Ken’s waist line.
When asked about it, Royce was succinct: “I’m a fighter! I came here to fight. We are from the beginning, when there were no rules, gloves, weight classes.”
Shamrock expressed his discontent: “I’m disappointed. I was prepared to go for a long time.”
