There are many reasons BJJ practitioners take up MMA. Some simply want to try their skills out in another art, but many just want more money.
For Augusto Mendes, though, more money is obviously not the reason he’s doing MMA. In fact, despite being in the world’s largest MMA promotion, the UFC, Augusto is making more money in BJJ.
More than twice, to be honest,” Mendes told MMA Fighting.
“And I even won two bonuses, fastest submission and best fight (vs. Miyao). I made more than twice in jiu-jitsu.”
Still, Mendes hopes to return to the octagon by UFC 222, scheduled in March.
