Former UFC fighter Angela Magana has awakened from her coma, according to her coach, Gabriel Lamastus.
The news comes two days after doctors were unsuccessful in waking Magana after emergency surgery, and she was in a coma for two days. The surgery was in response to complications stemming from a spinal injury. Lamastus has been providing updates via Magana’s Twitter account, and yesterday, he sent a text to MMA Junkie informing them that Magana was responding to the treatment and beginning to wake up. Later, he sent out a tweet informing Magana’s fans that the fighter was “drowsy,” but awake and already making jokes.
The Jiu-Jitsu Times will continue to provide updates on this story as they become available.
