It’s not uncommon for MMA fights to end in submissions, but it is uncommon for a fight to end without a single punch being thrown by the winner.
However, that’s exactly what happened when purple belt Mikkel Vlietstra stepped into the cage for the first time. A rough takedown shot from his opponent left Vlietstra open to sink in a guillotine, and that’s all it took for him to take home the win within the first minute of the match.
While, yes, this is an amateur fight and Vlietstra’s opponent clearly made a mistake that cost him a chance at victory, Vlietstra’s guillotine shows how effective jiu-jitsu can be if an aggressor messes up even for a second. Check out the fight below:
