Longtime two-division UFC queen Amanda Nunes will officially be entering the Octagon to face former foe Julianna Peña for the women’s bantamweight title on June 10 at UFC 289, per an April 9 UFC announcement.
Peña, who shocked audiences at UFC 269 by rear naked choking Nunes into the two-division champion’s first loss since 2014, hopes to resume her short-lived bantamweight reign. However, “The Lioness” — who largely pummeled Peña for a punishing five rounds to win her crown back in their immediate rematch at UFC 277 this past summer — will no doubt be keen on cementing that victory over Peña, along with her legacy as a women’s MMA great.
