UFC double-champ Amanda Nunes is set to defend her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena at UFC 265, which will take place this August.
The news was first reported by ESPN.
An official date and location have not yet been announced for the event; however, the report says that the card is tentatively planned for August 7.
Nunes last fought to a submission victory against Megan Anderson at UFC 259 back in March in a defense of her featherweight title. However, her last bantamweight title defense took place against Germaine de Randamie at UFC 245 at the end of 2019. She’s held the bantamweight title since 2016 and then claimed the featherweight belt in December 2018.
Pena last fought at UFC 257, where she finished Sara McMann with a rear naked choke in round three. The former TUF champion has finished seven of her ten victorious fights as a pro, and she’s been hungry for a title shot against Nunes since her win against McMann in January. Now, she’ll finally get the opportunity to try to unseat Nunes.
